10 Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so if you haven’t yet planned something for your loved one, here are a few of our top picks for things to do in and around the Sunshine Coast either on 14 February or on the weekend.

Celebrate Your Loved One

#1. Pamper Day

You could treat yourselves to a couples massage, or go all out with something like the Saltwater Pamper Day Retreat in Mooloolaba, offering a blend of massage, yoga, art classes, and more. What better way to show the love (and feel the love) than by being pampered?

#2. Visit the Zoo

It might not be the first thing you think of for Valentine’s Day, but Australia Zoo is offering free chocolates on arrival, and you’ll find lots of special treats set up for the day - from the Kiss-A-Critter competition to the Kiss-Cam hidden somewhere in the zoo. You can grab a picnic hamper and settle down for lunch, or have a romantic lunch for two with live entertainment.

#3. Have a Beach Picnic

There are lots of perfect spots for this on the Sunny Coast, but one of our favourites is Peregian Beach. Or for something a little different maybe try Chambers Island in the middle of the Maroochy River. Just bring your date, a picnic hamper and some champers and you’re all set for a day of romance.

#4. Go Old School with Flowers

As traditional as it might be, you really can’t go wrong with flowers and chocolate. And you can get all of your bloomin’ needs sorted at some of the Sunny Coast’s finest local florists, such as Buderim Floral ArtBuds on Buderim and Adore Flowers in Mooloolaba.

These florists have hired cold rooms from Kleer Cold Room Hire in preparation of the big day, so you can be sure to get the best of the best from them - fresh, beautiful flowers, and maybe some chocolates or macarons to go with them. Swoon!

#5. Get Lost Together

Head to Bellingham Maze and play a game of mini-golf, get lost in the maze, try a few brain teasers and have a BBQ or picnic when you’re done. It’s fun, it’s quirky and it’s the perfect way to spend some quality time together.

#6. Get Walking

Or maybe hiking. So being hot and sweaty isn’t very romantic, but the views from Mount Tinbeerwah are - and it’s a pretty cruisey climb, so why not? It’s also the perfect spot for a Valentine’s Day proposal? Hint, hint...

#7. Have a Staycation

We already live in one of the most beautiful and romantic places on earth, so why not plan a staycation - maybe book a night or a two at a romantic resort in Noosa, or head inland to the hinterland and discover some country romance.

#8. DIY Your Gift

You don’t need to spend big to show your love, and a homemade, personalised gift can be the perfect way to show your other half just how much they mean to you. You could try making bath bombs, baking up a storm, create a “vouchers” booklet, or make a photo book - the options are endless really!

#9. Head to the City

With Brissie just down the road, why not treat your loved one to a night on the town? Book a night in a hotel, go out for a fancy dinner, and head out for a few cocktails. You could even add in a bit of adventure, and tee up a Story Bridge Climb - they have an exclusive couples offer for Valentine’s Day.

#10. Become One with Nature

How about spending the weekend camping? There are so many beautiful places you can set up camp for an outdoorsy, adventurous weekend. And what is more romantic than just the two of you snuggling up in a tent?

Hopefully some of these ideas will help you get your Valentine’s Day plans sorted but there are so many more things you can do in our beautiful neck of the woods.
